Foster photograph collection is composed of three specific subjects. There are photos of deteriorating buildings at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey in 1971, showing damage and poor maintenance. There are eight color snapshots of Comanche Indians at a get-together in Oklahoma in 1989, at which General Foster was a guest. Lastly, General Foster collects information and photos of hospital trains, so there are numerous photos of WWI and WWII era hospital trains, all of which are copies he made or purchased.

Born 1918 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Graduated from the United States Military Academy, 1941. Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army Signal Corps in 1941 and assigned to the 4th Signal Company stationed at Fort Benning. During World War II Foster served in North Africa and Algiers with the 560th Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion and commanded a company of the 530th Signal Battalion.
